iPhone screens have gotten bigger almost every year, yet the software-based keyboard generally stays the same size relative to the screen. This means that on some iPhones, some users may find the keyboard too small. Assuming that that is you, fortune has smiled on you: There are a couple of ways you can make the iPhone keypad bigger.

The iPhone keyboard

The iPhone keyboard was one of the most revolutionary things about the device when it was introduced in 2007. That’s because it was the first software-based touchscreen keyboard on a mobile phone that you’d have to use without a stylus.

People were amazed that despite the small screen and small keyboard of the original iPhone, their fat fingers could accurately press individual keys. It was an innovative piece of software engineering at the time.

What’s more, the iPhone keypad has just gotten endlessly better in the years since. You can now install other third-party software keyboards on iPhone as well. This is an important point that we’ll come back to in a second.

All that said, some people have trouble reading the symbols on the iPhone keyboard keys. Fortunately, the iPhone has a built-in way to make the keys easier to read.

How to make your iPhone keyboard bigger

There is no particular keyboard setting in iOS that permits you to expand the size of the console key alone. You can take a look at this yourself by going to Settings > General > Keyboard. There are many keyboard settings, but none to increase the size of the keys.

However, iOS offers an accessibility feature that can make everything on the screen appear larger, including the keyboard. This accessibility feature is called Screen Zoom. The feature allows you to increase the size of everything on your iPhone screen.

Following are the steps:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Tap Display & Brightness.
  • Under the Screen Zoom heading, tap View.
  • On the next screen, tap Zoom.
  • You will then see that all the elements of the iPhone user interface appear larger, including the keyboard.
